SINGAPORE – A 34-year-old office worker is assisting police with investigations after allegedly violating one of mankind's oldest unwritten laws by choosing the urinal directly beside another man despite four other empty options.

The incident, which occurred at approximately 2:15pm in the men's restroom of an office building in Raffles Place, left the victim "deeply uncomfortable" and questioning whether civilisation had finally collapsed.

The suspect then allegedly entered the restroom, surveyed all five available urinals, paused for several seconds, and calmly positioned himself immediately beside the victim.

Witnesses described the atmosphere as "unnaturally tense".

"It wasn't illegal," recalled accountant Tan Pang Jio, who was washing his hands at the time. "But everyone knew it was wrong."

Police confirmed that while no laws had technically been broken, specialist officers from the Criminal Investigation Department had been dispatched.

A spokesperson said investigators are exploring whether the incident should instead be prosecuted under the Common Sense Act.

At press time, the victim had applied to work from home indefinitely.
