SINGAPORE — Local administrative executive Jin Yao Hui, 34, has reportedly opened her refrigerator 47 times today in the optimistic belief that entirely new food might have materialised since her previous inspection approximately 12 minutes earlier.
According to family members, the ritual has become so predictable that the fridge light now switches on before she reaches the kitchen.
"It wasn't there just now," Ms Jin muttered while staring intently at the same half packet of spinach, three eggs, a lonely tomato, and a container of leftovers she has already rejected on six separate occasions.
Witnesses say she carefully surveyed every shelf, peered into the vegetable drawer, checked the freezer "just in case", before quietly closing the door and walking away disappointed.
She returned eleven minutes later.
Ms Lim's husband says he has accepted the phenomenon.
"Yesterday she opened the fridge, said there was nothing to eat, then spent ten minutes deciding what to order."
"What did she order?"
"The leftovers."
Meanwhile, engineers from a leading appliance manufacturer confirmed they are developing the world's first AI-powered refrigerator capable of displaying a gentle reminder every time the door opens.
"Bruh... it's still the same food."
At press time, Ms Jin had opened the fridge once more after remembering she "might have missed something at the back." Early reports indicate she had indeed missed something… the same half-eaten tub of yogurt she had deliberately ignored all afternoon.
